Civics and Economics is the last of three social studies courses you have to complete successfully in order to graduate in the state of North Carolina. Together, we will explore citizenship in the United States, federal, state, and local government, economics, and the historical foundations of the United States. You are encouraged to take an active role in the course, meaning that you should feel free to ask questions and share your thoughts and opinions when warranted.

Honors Civics and Economics should cover the material in greater complexity, novelty, acceleration, or pacing, and reflect a defensible differentiated curriculum. Honors students should learn to express and defend their ideas while attaining the distance necessary to accept constructive criticism. Thursday, February 20th Assignment: First Period: Honors Civics **Some students will be taking the WORKEYS test.

I.Kaylee Earp needs to go get a picture of the choral students first thing!She knows where the camera is.

II.Students should complete their worksheet from the day before (labeled Goal 7, Day 2) and turn that into the basket.

III.Then students should get a piece of printer paper (cart next to the bookcase) and draw any product in the center.They should label each of the four corners as one of the factors of production and give five (5) examples of each factor of production that went into making the product they drew.

IV.Students should then play “The Lemonade Stand Game” online. They can find it at www.lemondadegame.com.After the game, students should write a journal entry about the game and what connections they see to what we have done in class.

V.The rest of the time should be spent reading chapter 2 of That Used to be US. They should each have a copy.

Friday, February 21st: First Period: Honors Civics **Some Students will be missing for T3LC. The students can tell you who they are.

I.Students should divide into teams of no more than four. They will need to access my honors website (Honors Civics Page) and download a copy of the file “product proposal” at the bottom of the page.

II.In groups, they should work to complete the proposal and project. Students should think big..what product does the world REALLY need?? The product does not have to be possible given current technology, so have fun with this one (within reason). ONE copy of this proposal form will need to be turned in COMPLETED when the students present. Private markings 2017daruma fields saddlery saddles.
